Cece Parker is Giving Ink a Wink

Microblading, Powderbrow and More!

Cece Parker is a bit of a local legend in the beauty world, she has been providing stunning Lash Extensions and salon services to hundreds of clients in NH for over 20 years. Now located at the Color Lounge on Manchester Street in Concord, an interesting, growing selection of permanent makeup services has been taking center stage at her studio.

The Brows Have it! Here are the hottest items on the menu:

Microblading Services

If you haven’t heard about it yet, Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo. The treatment applies many small hairlike strokes creating a long lasting 3D brow effect with minimal pain and long lasting natural looking results. This is a service that requires a steady hand and artistic skill. Cece’s experience and artistry combine to deliver beautiful, picture perfect results that last and last!

Powderbrow Services

What is Powderbrow? Powderbrow is a semi-permanent cosmetic makeup technique which creates a soft powder effect on brows. This can be used to create the ombré look, or you can combine Microblading to your powder brow look for a great combo.

In our current culture of an expressive tattoo “ink” explosion, the popularity of permanent makeup treatments via ink makes total sense. The list of options are growing, and with Cece, as always, you know you are in good hands!

The Entrepreneurial Spirit

The Entrepreneurial Spirit

Here is an oldie but a goodie – written back in 2019 when I first launched Maven Web Design & Development.

Since then, I am happy to say that I have worked with and designed websites for dozens of business owners, nonprofits and larger organizations all over the country. However, the bulk of my clients have been local and almost 100% were a result of referrals and word of mouth alone!

I love what I do and wouldn’t have it any other way.

(Here is the original post from July 8, 2019)

OK, so it took me about 25 years to make the move, but I am finally doing what I was built to do. Helping create possibilities, develop missions and fuel the growth of local business owners and other entrepreneurs (like myself). This aligns very well with a “community” attitude that I think we could all use a bit more of these days.

Small Business Needs

Almost every business owner needs some level of marketing support. Either because they don’t have the time, the interest or the experience to give it the time or attention it needs. After all, they have a business to run! Which typically means putting 100% into the venture or talent that got them into business in the first place.

That leaves a lot of bases to cover, ranging from advertising, content writing, email marketing campaigns, promotions, events, graphic design, social media and of course…the ultimate destination at the heart of it all, the website design. All of these things are critical pieces of the “marketing puzzle”, and need constant assessment and upkeep if you want to stay ahead of the competition.

The Reward is Inspiration

Offering my creative services to striving local businesses is what I do well, and is what I enjoy. For many years, I spent my career helping big companies get bigger. Along the way I realized, that I had become separated from the important part, the inspiration. Playing a role in the journey of a small business, non-profit or family owned operation, as they grow and succeed is both rewarding and fun, and everyday brings something new.

Taking the Leap

So, there is no right or wrong and it’s not for everyone, but the moral of the story is; if you think you have an entrepreneurial spirit, give it some room to grow. It just might give you a whole new perspective!

Are you still wondering if you have what it takes? Check out these interesting articles on the topic, including The 10 entrepreneurial characteristics to look for, or this one that describes the 5 Characteristics of an Entrepreneurial Spirit.

Have fun!

What is a Favicon and Why Your Website Should Have One

What is a Favicon and Why Your Website Should Have One

You may have never heard of favicons ( or ‘favorite icon’ ) but chances are you’ve seen them everywhere! Nearly all of the websites you visit have that nifty little icon that appears in the URL bar of your internet browser. So, what is a favicon and why should you care? They may seem like an inconsequential detail, afterall, they are only small icons ( 16×16 pixels to be exact ) depicting a logo or brand related image, but in actuality, they affect more than you might think.

Impact on SEO

There are rumours that favicons have an impact on your overall SEO success, but there isn’t actually much evidence of this. But that certainly doesn’t mean they aren’t important.  As we previously mentioned, favicons appear in the URL bar of your browser but they also appear in places like your bookmarks, browser history, and most importantly, in your browser tabs right next to the page title.

Your Favicon appears in the browser tab for all the visitors to your website!

Many people (especially us!) browse the internet with a plethora of tabs open and it’s very easy to get lost when clicking back and forth between multiple windows. This is one of the reasons why favicons are so essential – they help the user find and navigate to the exact web browser tab they are looking for with a quick glance! Our brains respond faster to images, so a little pop of color or a recognizable symbol will stand out much better than trying to read through twenty tabs of tiny text titles alone.

Scanning through folders and folders of bookmarks would also be more taxing if it weren’t for those easily recognizable favicons that draw our eyes right to them. It saves everyone time and also adds that touch of professionalism that, if missing, just leaves the whole website feeling a little incomplete.

If you Skip it, People will Notice

If your website does not have a designated favicon, you will get stuck with a generic, boring symbol supplied by the browser, or the default icon of the website’s hosting company or possibly the icon of the software used to build the website. To the seasoned end user, this sticks out like a sore thumb and can make your brand seem less professional.

We at Maven Web Design & Development (MavenDD) understand the importance of the little things. Our team ensures that all websites we design and build for our clients have a custom Favicon to match your logo and branding.  Your very own little 16×16 pixel slice of the internet browser for all your online visitors! Now that you know what favicons are and why they are beneficial, you will be more likely to notice them on all of your favorite websites!
